Why are we doing this: We shape our environments and then they shape us, this is why designing our neighborhoods towards human connection and flourishing is so incredibly important. Communities of faith have an incredible power to shape the very fabric of their neighborhoods through placemaking, civic engagement, adaptive reuse of the buildings and places we already steward.

What can you expect: By bringing together some of the top thinkers and practitioners of architecture, place-making, developers, civic leaders, and theologians we will help you understand the tested design principles that make for great places, not only for the wealthy but for all neighborhoods.

What will you take away: We’ll help participants take the first steps in learning how to effectively participate in the public planning process, to learn the art of placemaking and become small developers in their own communities, and finally explore ways that church communities as property owners can responsibly develop or retrofit their buildings to contribute to the common good in their community.
